Do you have a wardrobe full of clothes and still nothing to wear? + Stuff you never use laying around everywhere?
I´ve been in the same pair of shoes for many years but came across an eye-opening book called the life-changing magic of tidying up.
It cost just a few bucks and yet it´s very powerful and effective when you decide to follow through the steps in the book.
Because this little book solved so many clutter problems I struggled with for years, I want to tell you why you should read it and how it could change your life too.
But what´s this book all about you might be asking?
The life-changing magic of tidying up is a bestseller book written by the Japanese clean up guru Marie Kondo.
The time magazine named Kon Mari (it’s her Japanese nickname) as one of the top 100 influential people in the world and I tell you why I believe she totally deserves the title.
Before we get started I have a special announcement.
At the end of this post, I’ve linked to a SPECIAL deal where you can learn tons about goal setting, planning, productivity, and time management! It’s called the ultimate productivity bundle and you can get 46 products for 97% off the original price! Don’t miss to check out this amazing offer!
THE LIFE-CHANGING MAGIC OF TIDYING UP BY MARIE KONDO
Don´t get discouraged by the title of the book.
It´s not about “how to polish your house”, it´s about decluttering.
I enjoyed reading The life-changing magic of tidying up because it´s written in a language which is very easy to read and in an amusing way.
With a lot of eye-opening examples, we women for sure all can relate to, especially when it comes to our wardrobe.
Before reading this book I made several attempts to declutter my house with little or no success at all. It was difficult to define where to start and what to get rid of.
Instead of getting rid of my stuff I was most of the time just rearranging my things from one box to another.
I love this book because it made me rethink my consumption behavior as well as it made me think about all the stuff I own.
It also made decluttering an easy practice for me I now enjoy doing on a regular basis. It became a natural part of my life.
It´s less likely that I purchase an emotionally driven item since I know which products I really value and need in my life.
WHY YOU WILL BENEFIT FROM DECLUTTERING
Decluttering is not about throwing away stuff mindlessly.
It´s more a process of finding out what you truly need and love.
In The life-changing magic of tidying up, you find several ways described how to declutter mindfully.
You reevaluate all the things you own and get rid of the things which fall into the categories “don´t need” and “don´t want”.
With Kon Mari´s decluttering guide you become very mindful and conscious of all the things you own.
Decluttering makes you appreciate the things you already have more.
Conscious decluttering effects also your future consumption behavior in a positive way.
It´s less likely that you get carried away with impulsive buys.
The book gives you an exact guideline on where to start your decluttering and strategies how to do it in a fun way.
My husband an I, inspired by magic cleaning, had a 1-year decluttering challenge.
We decluttered our house and donated a lot of our former belongings to charity.
Some things we also sold on eBay and made over 2K just by selling the little random things we didn´t need anymore.
How to get rid of clutter forever is a post where I share with you 5 strategies we used for our decluttering sessions. All inspired by the book the life-changing magic of tidying up.
In retrospect, it was a lot of fun and I encourage you to look over your possessions as well.
Getting rid of stuff clears up not only the space in your house but also in your head and makes room for more important things in your life.
