Everybody has different skills and various passions.
The first step to building your personal brand is to know which of your skills and passions you want to highlight in your messaging.
You need a certain type of self-awareness in order to find out your spot of genius.
You are connecting through your skills and passions with your target audience.
Therefore these skills and passions should be in alignment with your target audience.
KNOW YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE
Know who you want to target with your messaging.
Who are the people you feel drawn to & in alignment with?
Who do you want to help with your products and services from the bottom of your heart?
Without knowing who you want to reach with your messaging you will likely just going to throw spaghetti onto the wall in the hope that something will stick.
And very likely you will reach just a small percentage of the people who you wanna reach or none at all with your message.
That’s not a sustainable, strategy for a successful business.
I heard somewhere a great quote that sums up what I mean by it:
“ If you are talking to everybody you are talking to nobody. “
And that’s exactly what you should keep in mind while nailing down your skills and passions and defining your target audience for your personal brand.
You can bring certain elements into your personal branding strategy that will attract your audience and repel all others.
A strong personal brand is attracting and repelling all the time.
It’s not the job of your personal brand to become everybody’s darling.
DEFINE THE STORY THAT CONNECTS YOU TO YOUR AUDIENCE
Define the story that connects you to your target audience.
Whether that’s a personal story where you tell how you switched to a healthier diet or where you explain how you lost weight or whatever your spot of genius is, it’s important to make sure that the story you are telling is true and relevant to your audience.
BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR AUDIENCE
Only when you know your audience, and tell a relevant story to them that connects you with them you can move on to the next step.
That is relationship building.
You both have something in common and you can help your audience reach their goals whether that is switching to a healthier diet, losing weight or whatever your niche of genius might be.
It’s the starting point for a flourishing relationship.
You are building a relationship with your followers because you genuinely care about them.
It’s important to you that they are succeeding with your help and they will ultimately feel that when you are interacting with them.
In return, they will reward you with their trust and loyalty.
