WHAT IS THE IMPOSTER SYNDROME
Did you ever felt like a fraud after accomplishing something great?
Got a good grade @ University for a subject you have barely studied for and started to question yourself and your abilities?
Landed a great job and immediately thought that you don´t deserve it?
People who are suffering under the imposter syndrome feel intimidated by their own success.
They start questioning themselves and criticizing their abilities whenever they are successful in life.
- I don´t deserve this
- It must be a mistake
- This can´t be true
- I can´t do this
- They probably have confused me with someone else
These are just some thoughts imposters like to think after they accomplished sth awesome.
Besides thinking they don´t deserve what they accomplished they have a massive fear of being exposed by others as a fraud.
Even though they did everything by themselves they feel like a fraud.
If this sounds familiar to you, you might suffer under the imposter syndrome.
No worries it´s not a psychological disorder.
In fact, around 70% of the US population experiences at least once in their lifetime this feeling, while high achievers and in particular women are more affected.
Harvard University has employed counselors to help their students talk about the imposter. They experienced a huge number of graduates visiting their offices who were seeking help because they felt like frauds.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO OVERCOME THE IMPOSTER IN YOU
1. BE MINDFUL ABOUT YOUR THOUGHTS
Be aware of your thoughts and inner chatter about yourself whenever you accomplish something great.
Kick these negative thoughts about yourself to the curb.
Replace them with grateful thoughts about the situation and your accomplishments.
2. STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF
Be always yourself and do the best work you can.
And never forget that you are enough just the way you are!
3. STRIVE FOR PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION
Remind yourself that perfectionism is not the solution. Perfect doesn´t exist don´t try to aim for perfection.
4. BALANCE YOUR LIFE
Maintain an appropriate work-life balance to avoid burnout.
5. CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESSES
Start practicing gratitude and celebrate your successes in life to help your brain realize that you are capable of achieving the things you want in life.
